Bastei (305 m a.s.l.) is a rock formation with observation platforms located in Saxon Switzerland on the right bank of the Elbe River, between the little spa town of Rathen and the town of Wehlen. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Saxon Switzerland. From the narrow cliff bastion, at a height of 194 m above the surface of the Elbe River, there are panoramic views of the river valley and of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. On the plateau behind the rock formation there is a hotel with a restaurant.
